London is full of fantastic restaurants, but in this all-consuming Instagram era, some of us are now looking for great food paired with equally great Instagram grid content. Thankfully, we’ve moved beyond sharing photos of chili-infused crushed avocado on toast, but the capital’s eateries are also busy transforming once-simple spaces into venues with bold backdrops, cascading floral arrangements, and stunning table settings. If great food and lavish surroundings sounds like your ideal night out, keep scrolling for our roundup of some of the prettiest, most Instagram-worthy restaurants in London.
Petersham Nurseries, Covent Garden
With an in-house team of talented florists and the Covent Garden flower market just next door, Petersham Nurseries is never short of fresh flowers and elegant tables with their own collection of beautiful Murano glassware. Whether it’s a no-cost wedding or just a simple lunch in their open kitchen La Goccia restaurant, you can’t go wrong spending time in such a magical space.
Dalloway Terrace, Bloomsbury
Dalloway Terrace has had a beautiful upgrade this spring with its famous flower wall now overflowing with blossoms, tulips and ranunculus. A new season also means a new menu, which includes a herbal afternoon tea with carrot cake with tarragon and cream cheese mousse and poached salmon and crème frache on malted cocoa bread.
Chinese Park, Mayfair
After descending the red spiral staircase at the 1930s Shanghai-inspired Mayfair restaurant, you’ll be greeted by what can only be described as wall-to-wall opulence. Think glamorous luxury red velvet benches, velvet curtain walls and tassels for romantic lighting. Complementing the interior perfectly, the restaurant has also recently introduced a new Dim Sum experience that runs from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM every Saturday. In addition to a three-course menu, the special afternoon soiree features aerial artists and fire acts.
If you’ve already documented the iconic rosy-pink room at Sketch, it’s time to return to check out the Gallery restaurant’s gorgeous sun-yellow makeover. In addition to new yellow chairs and copper walls, the restaurant also features 13 works of art celebrating African culture, designed by British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare CBE.
New. Fifty Cheyne, Chelsea
This Chelsea restaurant overlooks the River Thames and Chelsea Embankment Gardens. It is a wonderfully charming place with a range of rooms all individually decorated and bursting with character. Our favorite? The luxurious ruby red cocktail bar on the restaurant’s first floor – it’s like stepping straight onto a classic movie set.
Popular Circle, Fitzrovia
The Big Mamma Group fully understood the brief when it came to designing a restaurant that would be splashed on Instagram. Not only will you be taking pictures of the interior – lilac flowers hanging from the ceiling, twinkling lights, and endless liquor bottles lining the walls – you’ll also be engrossed in making your pasta, pudding and fancy fishbowl cocktails.
The Ivy Chelsea Garden, Chelsea
When the sun is out, opt for an outside table in The Ivy Chelsea Garden’s vast garden, where you’ll be surrounded by lush greenery, calming water features and climbing flowers. Colorful patterned cushions adorn the iron seats, while pretty yellow umbrellas add to the chilled, sunny vibe. This Mother’s Day, they’re also offering a limited-edition Floral Mother’s Day Macaron with Raspberry, Almond, and Pistachio, almost too pretty to eat.
Los Mochis, Notting Hill
You will immediately feel relaxed in the sophisticated Mexican/Japanese restaurant thanks to the subtle mood lighting, exposed brickwork, warm wood and cognac leather chairs. Fake shrubs and fairy lights hang from the ceiling, while colorful artworks add splashes of color to the environment. In addition to the cozy indoor space, Los Mochis also features a lovely patio, perfect for people-watching in the summer.
Ave Mario, Covent Garden
Also part of the Big Mamma Group, Ave Mario is another restaurant built with beautiful Instagram photos in mind. It’s all plush red booths, bold black and white striped walls, and endless bottles of booze. Like Circolo, expect to fill your camera roll with shots of ridiculously fun cocktails and plates full of pasta.
Booking Office 1869, King’s Cross
Influenced by the original 19th century St. Pancras ticket hall, the unique space at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel blends old and new influences. Dark walls, huge vaulted ceilings, animal print chairs and imposing palm trees create a truly unique and vibrant atmosphere. In addition to the interior, we imagine photos of the Gallivanter Collins and Arrived On Time cocktails will also make their way to Instagram.
Whether you’re popping in for a quick coffee or for something from their Latin street food brunch menu, Morena’s clean, sunny interior will put a smile on your face. With exposed brickwork, dusty pink upholstered booths and wicker chairs, it’s hard not to feel like you’ve been temporarily transported to a warm place abroad. Instagram will also love the restaurant’s pastel-colored dishes, copper pineapple-shaped spoons, and mahogany coasters.
Choto Matte, Soho
When it comes to the food at the Japanese/Peruvian fusion restaurant, the rave reviews are well-deserved, so it’s a bonus that Chotto Matte nailed the buzzing atmosphere too. A dimly lit space, a fifty-foot street artwork runs the length of the side wall, while downstairs you are greeted by a huge fluorescent mural.
