Attackers assault woman on New York City train, remain free

Bestinau got that-

Two suspects remain on the run after police said they repeatedly punched a 28-year-old woman aboard a New York City subway earlier this month.

Crimes Stoppers of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) released surveillance footage of the suspects believed to be responsible for the March 2 attack.

Watch below:

Police said at about 5:25 p.m. that the suspects approached the 28-year-old woman and repeatedly punched her in the face while boarding an “A” train near the Jay Street subway station in Brooklyn, reported WNBC.

According to the police, a 29-year-old man came to her aid, and he was also punched multiple times in the face.

“The woman was taken to Cobble Hill Hospital in stable condition,” WNYW noted. “The male victim refused medical attention.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or suspects to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

The incident comes as crime rates skyrocket under the watchful eye of Democratic Mayor Eric Adams.

Since Adams was sworn in on January 1 through March 20, the seven major felony offenses — murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, grand theft and grand theft car — are up 45.2 percent compared to the same period in 2021. That’s according to the NYPD crime statistics. Transit crime has increased by as much as 75 percent in the same period compared to last year.

Due to the increase in crime, commuters are concerned about their safety while using public transport.

A Morning Consult survey, commissioned by the Partnership for New York City, found that 60 percent of commuters who work in office buildings in New York City say safety is the single most important issue the city can address when it comes to public transport.

The poll surveyed 9,386 adults who worked in offices in New York City between Feb. 17 and March 11. The margin of error for the full survey results is plus or minus one percent, and the interviews were conducted online.
