Canada beats Germany in doubles to advance to Davis Cup semifinals

Doubles pair Denis Shapovalov and Vasek Pospisil have sent Canada to the semifinals of the Davis Cup Finals in Spain after securing the deciding win over Germany in their tie.

Shapovalov and Pospisil rallied to win their doubles match 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 over Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz.

Earlier, the two countries split their singles matches with Jan-Lennard Stuff beating Shapovalov 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (2) before Canada’s Felix Auger-Alliassime beat Oscar Otte 7-6 (1), 6-4.

Canada will now face Italy in the semifinals Saturday.

Croatia and Australia will meet in the other semifinal, with the winners facing each other in the final Sunday.
