Bestinau got that-
CRISTIANO RONALDO will part with £5million due to Manchester United’s season from hell.
Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford last summer on a heavily bonus-related contract to offset a hefty drop in his £750,000-a-week salary at Juventus.
But United will end up without a trophy for a FIFTH straight season – wiping out most of those incentives.
The heaviest was the Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid in the last 16, which would have earned Ronaldo around £2.5 million had they reached the final in Paris in May.
Winning a first Prem title since 2013 was also worth up to £1.5 million.
Failing in both domestic cup competitions was another shoe in the wallet for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Missing out next season’s Champions League would also be a huge blow to Ronaldo, whose base salary is roughly half the amount he earned in Italy.
Ronaldo, 37, will still earn a significant bonus if he is United’s top goalscorer and only compatriot Bruno Fernandes is within touching distance.
Still, it’s still a big cut from what United expected to pay when they signed neighbors Manchester City.
The Portugal international has racked up a total of 18 goals and three assists in 33 games this season.
