A dog was killed in a shooting in Manchester, New Hampshire last night, police said.

At around 1:15 a.m. Monday, Manchester police were called to an apartment on Orange Street for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they said they had found a dead dog and several casings in the apartment.

Through their investigation, the police said they found out that a man known to the victims broke into the apartment and started shooting, killing the dog.

People in the apartment began to disperse and a man dove through a second-floor glass window in an attempt to escape, sustaining serious injuries. He was later found on Myrtle Street and taken to a nearby hospital.

The intruder fled and is still on the run, police said.

The early morning incident was one of two shootings reported in Manchester on Monday. At about 8:30 a.m., police also received a report of shots fired in the area of ​​52 Dubuque Street. Callers said they heard multiple shots and saw two vehicles exiting the area.

No injuries were reported, but the window of a nearby building was shattered by a bullet and casings were found on the road.
