Drone used to help find driver after fire causes crash

A FIRE caused by a car collision in a Worcestershire town required a drone to help find the driver.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue shared on social media that a collision between a car with a tree and fencing and caught fire in the early hours of Sunday morning. 

The driver of the vehicle could not be found at the scene when fire crews arrived.

A spokesperson for the Tenbury Fire Station said: “At 3.50am this morning we were called to a car fire at Kyrewood, Tenbury Wells.

“One car had been in collision with a tree and fencing and was well alight. The vehicle had been abandoned on our arrival.

“Crews used two hose reels and one breathing apparatus wearer. The fire service drone from Ledbury was requested to assist with a search for the occupant who may have been injured in the collision.

“Further information was later received from the police who were investigating, so the drone was not required however police, fire, ambulance and the fire service drone attended.”
