Emergency services are looking for a helicopter that is believed to have crashed on Mount Disappointment, north of Melbourne.
Victoria Police said two helicopters were traveling north in a convoy from Melbourne’s CBD over Mount Disappointment when one disappeared just after 9.30am.
Ambulance Victoria crews were called to reports of an aviation incident around 9:35 a.m.
The National Emergency Service has also joined the search.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said it had been made aware of the incident and was “gathering more information”.
The search for the helicopter is centered a relatively short distance from Victoria’s military base Puckapunyal, near Seymour.
An ADF spokesman said the missing helicopter was not believed to be a defense aircraft.
More to come.
