It appears that “Love & Hip Hop” personalities Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels have officially divorced. One of the franchise’s famous couples who often break up to make amends is no longer an item after two years of marriage and two kids.
On Monday, March 28, The Shade Room shared a video of Mena’s recent performance at a Tampa nightclub, where she let the public know, “I’m officially divorced.”
The 34-year-old added: “I said I’m officially divorced. We celebrate life. We celebrate freedom. We celebrate being bad and running this MF.”
This is the second time Mena appears to be celebrating her divorce, which is why fans are skeptical in the comments. In September 2021, The Shade Room shared a clip of Mena at another party where she yelled into the microphone, “This is how divorce parties work.”
Fans started calling Mena’s bluff, saying, “She’s not as happy as she looks,” despite twerking at the end of the video. A large handful predict that the couple will likely be back together by the end of the week.
“She’s going to cry in the car,” one person wrote, while another said, “They will get married again by April 1st.”
A third referred to the relationship drama of Mena and Safaree in “Love & Hip Hop: ATL” and wrote, “The storyline was long enough.”
Regardless of fans’ assumptions, many defended Mena’s happy single spirit, including one person who said, “She really is a happy divorcee.”
Another person said, “You guys don’t want to bash her because she wanted to celebrate being free from what was probably the worst time of her life.”
Mena and Safaree’s relationship has been marred by controversy since the couple married in October 2019. The former couple welcomed their first child, daughter, safire Your Majesty, in 2020, after which they threatened back and forth with divorce and online bickering for a year. Not to mention, there have been numerous allegations and allegations of Safaree’s infidelity.
Mena had had enough in May 2021 and filed for divorce while pregnant with their second child. A month later, she exposed Safaree online for parties in Jamaica while she was in the NICU for ten days with their then-newborn son. Legend†
Even after Mena apologized for damaging Sarfaree’s expensive shoe collection and other personal belongings, the two tried to reconcile.
Mena and Safaree’s marital woes continued to play into the second season of “Family Reunion: Love & Hip Hop Edition,” which aired last December. In the episode that aired Monday, February 7, Safaree admitted his mistakes and apologized to his wife for the pain he caused, especially during the pregnancy.
He said, ‘Divorce or not, I’m sorry I hurt you. I do not want to hurt you. I don’t want you to be in pain. But I love you forever, that will never change.”
At this time, no details are known about primary custody of Mena and Safaree’s children.
