Sergio Perez, the first Mexican driver ever to take pole position in Formula 1, took P1 on the grid on his last attempt around the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. View here how the qualification went.

Qualifying started with Nicholas Latifi walking away from a high-speed crash, before Lewis Hamilton’s struggles became apparent and he was eliminated in Q1 for the first time since 2017.

Ferrari was in Q1 and again in Q2 thanks to Carlos Sainz – after a long red flag for a bad crash for Mick Schumacher. The Haas driver was conscious but was taken to hospital as a precaution, team principal Guenther Steiner said he had “no visible injuries” and was speaking.

In Q3, pole position appeared to be for Ferrari – until Perez made a stunning attempt to capture P1 for the first time, after 215 attempts.
