Jusuf Nurkic throws phone from Pacers fan during heated confrontation

Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic is currently out of play, but still made headlines after Portland’s 129-98 loss to the Pacers Sunday night.

Nurkic, who has been sidelined with plantar fasciitis since last month, came face to face with a Pacers fan sitting at the court and threw his phone away before they exchanged words.

Viral videos of the fiery moment show Nurkic walking leisurely to the fan, before grabbing his phone as a guard tried to intervene.

It’s unclear why Nurkic approached the fan, or what happened after the clip ended.

The Bosnian great man did not address the media after the game. He did, however, take to Twitter to share photos of his burgundy look while standing by the side at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Last month, the Trail Blazers announced that Nurkic would be re-evaluated in a minimum of four weeks due to the injury that has plagued the center since September.

Nurkic has averaged 15 points and 11.1 rebounds in 56 games this season and has 30 double-doubles.

Portland is also without All-Star guard Damian Lillard, who has been out since early January with a stomach problem that required surgery. Striker Nassir Little underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in February. The team also traded star guard CJ McCollum to the Pelicans last month.

The 26-44 Trail Blazers will play host to the Spurs on Wednesday. Portland is in 12th place in the Western Conference, not currently in the playoffs.
