Lineup Announced for Vernon’s Funtastic A&W Music Festival – Vernon News

Vernon’s Funtastic Slo-Pitch Tournament and Music Festival is going local for entertainment this year.

After a two-year pandemic hiatus, the June 30 – July 2 event is back and the organizers announced their music lineup on Wednesday.

“Funtastic supports those who have supported us and keeps it local with an amazing lineup of talented musicians who are lucky enough to call the Okanagan home,” the Funtastic Sports Society said in a press release.

Jon McMurray of music festival sponsor A&W and Funtastic president Jamie Austin presented the list, which includes some of the Valley’s biggest musical names.

Entertainment kicks off the Thursday of Funtastic with the Shawn Lightfoot Band.

On Fridays, check out The Noble Crew, The Young’uns and Vernon rock royalty Darby Mills.

The music festival closes on Saturday with up-and-coming country star Ben Klick, Dirt Road Kings and Aaron Pritchett.

DJ Lunchboxx will also be playing tunes every day of the festival.

Tickets are now on sale via the Funtastic website. Day passes are $30, and weekend passes are $60 (plus a service fee).

Proceeds from the event, one of North Okanagan’s largest, will be funneled back into the community. To date, Funtastic has donated more than $2.1 million to local nonprofits and sports groups.

Known for its energetic show, the Shawn Lightfoot Band has been open for the likes of Platinum Blonde and Big Sugar.

The Noble Crew plays everything from rock to country and top 40, while The Young’uns – one of the Valley’s longest serving bands – has been a staple of Funtastic for years.

Vernon’s Darby Mills needs no introduction. She was Canada’s scream queen as the lead singer of Headpins, produced several rock hits and has since gone solo with her own Darby Mills Project.

West Kelowna’s Ben Klick has had four of his songs on the country charts and has won five BC Country Music Awards, and many more. He has opened for Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Toby Keith and a long list of others.

Armstrong’s Dirt Road Kings is a country cover band that plays everything from new country hits from Luke Bryan to classic country from Garth Brooks and David Lee Murphy.

Aaron Pritchett has since released eight albums and had 14 top 10 country hits.

With multiple Canadian Country Music Association Awards and Juno nominations, Pritchett says he’s “thankful every day to be in the business” and “so grateful” for the support of his fans.
