Loki writer Michael Waldron shares his team’s hilarious unused acceptance speech at the WGA awards, featuring Tara Strong as Miss Minutes. Loki released last year on Disney+ as part of Marvel’s recent expansion into television series, alongside WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier† The public was reunited with the God of Mischief after his tragic death at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War leaving many unsure of what the future might hold for this beloved character. Tom Hiddleston returned to reprise his role as Loki, alongside Owen Wilson making his MCU debut as Mobius.
Loki introduced the audience to some exciting new characters, including Sophia Di Martino as the Loki variant named Sylvie. A particular favorite, however, was Miss Minutes, an artificial intelligence voiced by the iconic Tara Strong. Miss Minutes appears as the official mascot of the Time Variance Authority and is one of the first to welcome Loki upon his arrival. The TVA stands to protect the sanctity of the sacred timeline of the universe, “pruning” those who do not comply. Presented as an animated clock, it was later revealed that Miss Minutes worked for Jonathon Majors’ He Who Remains, otherwise known as Kang The Conqueror.

Loki was nominated for Best New Series and Best Drama Series at the WGAs, but was sadly defeated by both hacking and Succession. head writer, Waldron shared the speech, read by Strong, in which Miss Minutes begins to thank the show’s cast and crew, before calling Loki a “disgusting work of pure trashy fictionbefore announcing that the writers and the public are now being pruned. In a follow-up tweet, Waldron shared that Strong recorded the speech with just 12 hours’ notice, calling her “hilarious and brilliant.Strong boasts an incredibly impressive resume, with her name becoming synonymous with the voice acting industry over the years. While some of Marvel’s Disney+ shows were presented as limited series, many were thrilled when Loki‘s final episode revealed that the show would return for season 2, with Strong expected to reprise her role as Miss Minutes.
Although it is certainly unfortunate that the Loki writers couldn’t put their hilarious speech to good use, it has since been incredibly well received online. With the direct impact Loki had about the events of the wider MCU, it remains to be seen exactly what will happen during the highly anticipated season 2, as well as what kind of role Miss Minutes will play now that her true motives have been revealed. Details remain scarce at the moment Loki Season 2 is expected to hit Disney+ next year.
