Police reveal the extent of last night’s chaos

Avon and Somerset police have revealed the extent of last night’s chaos involving a police chase across Bristol and into Somerset.

The pursuit began when a member of the public spotted a woman being pulled into a silver Ford car against her will on Anchor Road, near the city centre.

Police began to pursue the motorist, and the driver’s Ford was involved in a collision with two pedestrians on St Augustine’s Parade in The Centre. They were treated for minor injuries.

The driver then sped up through the city centre and onto the M32, where the driver’s vehicle was then involved in a collision with a police vehicle and another car. Three members of the public in that other car were taken to hospital.

And finally, the car was stopped on the Wellsway in Keynsham, after a 17 mile police chase. One of the occupants of the Ford ran off, but was soon tracked down by police on the ground and arrested, before being taken to hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The woman in the car was also taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.
