A man and a teenager have been arrested following a stabbing incident that left the victim with serious injuries. Police were called to reports of an altercation in the area of a laundrette in Newquay yesterday (April 30).
A man aged in his 40s sustained suspected stab wounds and his injuries are currently believed to be serious, according to police. They say the casualty is in a stable condition and remains in hospital. The area is still cordoned off after the incident between 2.30pm and 3.10pm started in Tower Road and continued in an alley.
In a statement issued today (May 1), Devon and Cornwall Police said: “The incident continued to an alleyway off Higher Tower Road where a further serious assault is reported to have taken place and a man aged in his 40s sustained suspected stab wounds.

“The casualty’s injuries are currently believed to be serious and he is in a stable condition in hospital, where he continues to receive treatment.
“A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both from the Newquay area, have been arrested on suspicion of assault. Both remain in police custody at this time while enquiries continue. A police cordon remains in place at the scene at this time.

One witness told CornwallLive: “The air ambulance went up higher Tower Road, right onto Pentire Road, and into the grass carpark where the air ambulance landed. One person was on a stretcher in back of land ambulance too. I saw someone being detained in handcuffs at top of Crantock Street.”
