Man in his 80s seriously injured after two-vehicle collision in Lincoln

Police have called for witnesses after a man in his 80s was seriously injured in a road accident. The two-vehicle collision, in Washingborough Road, Lincoln, happened on Friday evening (April 8).

The incident happened around 5 p.m. Lincolnshire Police say it was a silver Opel van coming from the Lincoln direction and a red Honda Jazz from the diversion direction.

The driver of the Jazz suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Next of kin are informed. The driver of the van suffered minor injuries.

In a statement, Lincolnshire Police said: “The entire stretch of road has been closed in both directions from the junction at Canwick Hill to the bypass while we conduct our investigation. It is expected to remain closed until the early hours of the morning to avoid the area.

“This has been a busy time of day and there will have been a number of people on the road at the time. We’d love to hear from anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the incident or caught it on a dashcam.

“If you were in the area between 4:50 PM and 5:05 PM and have any information or footage that could help with our investigation, please contact us. There are several ways to contact us.
