Man killed after storage unit detaches from truck in Greenville County

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) — The Greenville County coroner said a man was killed in a crash Wednesday morning.

The accident happened just after 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of SC418 and Huff Creek Drive.

The victim, 74-year-old Berly Gibbs Zeigler, was driving a tractor-trailer. Troopers said a pickup truck on the other side of the road was pulling a trailer with an outside storage area.

According to the Highway Patrol, the storage shed hit a guardrail, causing it to become detached and into oncoming traffic.

Zeigler’s truck hit the storage area head-on and he was killed.

He was from Orangeburg, SC.
