Montgomery County man charged with targeting moms on dating app to potentially assault children

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Women in the online dating community are being warned after the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of preying on mothers for the purpose of sexually abusing their children.

Epifanio Adolfo Jimenez, 42, a married man, was taken into custody March 15 and charged with aggravated assault on a child, according to the sheriff’s office. He is on deferred trial for online recruitment.

Investigators said Jimenez, who used the alias “Harley” for his profile, would target moms through dating apps and ask to spend time with them and their children.

In one case, Jimenez is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

According to court documents, the girl, who is now 17, protested against her high school counselor and reported that she was raped by Jimenez in 2017. The girl told the therapist that she had to get what had happened to her “off her chest.”

She then began to describe the night Jimenez allegedly attacked her.

The girl said Jimenez came home late from work, armed with a six-pack of beer, and that he was drunk. She said he entered her room, started yelling at her that she “didn’t appreciate what he does for her” and pushed her on the bed and raped her. He stopped when he heard someone walking down the hallway, documents say.

The victim said she was afraid for years to tell anyone about the attack.

Investigators spoke to Jimenez on March 9 about the claims.

According to documents, Jimenez acknowledged that he would either come home with a six-pack of beer, or that his girlfriend would already have one in the house for him. Researchers noted that Jimenez’s behavior was vague throughout their conversation. They said he confirmed the girl’s entire story, but denied that he had sexually assaulted her.

When asked by investigators why she would make up the story, Jimenez reportedly said it was because he wasn’t in her life.

Investigators determined that there was sufficient reason to proceed with the filing of charges.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Lieutenant Scott Spencer said Jimenez was on probation in Galveston for recruiting a minor online.

Investigators believe there may be more victims and urge anyone who has met him or brought him in contact with their children to call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936-760-5800 and refer to case 22A067965.
