NY Jets got a surprisingly low over-under for the 2022 season

New York Jets’ 2022 over-under profit aggregate projection is low, making it a tempting bet

Sportsbooks have started listing NFL wins for the 2022 season, and the New York Jets’ total is surprisingly low.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Jets are in for another long and painful season. DraftKings put the Jets on 5.5 wins in their overall opening win projections. This accounts for the third-lowest total in the league, better than just the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans.

I could certainly argue for the Jets to go below their set win total again. If quarterback Zach Wilson doesn’t progress as expected and the Jets are again riddled with major injuries, they could certainly win five games or less.

At this point in the competition year, however, I want to remain optimistic that the Jets will take a positive step forward next year.

Let’s see why I think the Jets will win six or more games next season.

Zach Wilson makes sophomore jump

Zach Wilson making the jump for his second year is the most important aspect of the 2022 season in New York. Wilson must establish himself as a top 20 NFL quarterback before he can hopefully take another step forward in year three.

The Jets have already upgraded their offensive line and tight end space, and an upgrade at wide receiver – be it via trade or the draft – looks imminent. These additions are sure to help the sophomore year quarterback.

Familiarity with the coaching staff and schedule will also maximize Wilson’s potential to take a step forward this season. Playing under the same coaches and knowing the ins and outs of this offense allows Wilson to think less and play more freely.

Influx of veteran talent and young talent

I think the Jets have had a very strong period of free choice, bringing in guys that fit the schedule well and culture guys for the locker room. Jordan Whitehead and DJ Reed are nice additions to the back of the defense. Laken Tomlinson bolsters the attack line and CJ Uzomah and Tyler Conklin will serve as security blankets for Zach Wilson.

The Jets also have four picks in the top 38 squads of the NFL draft. This is a great opportunity to fill the roster and add impactful starters. With two top 10 picks, a few blue-chip prospects like Kayvon Thibodeaux, Ikem Ekwonu, Ahmad Gardner, George Karlaftis or Jermaine Johnson could be added to the Jets roster.

Overall, I think the Jets will win six or more games this season. The combination of a sophomore jump from Wilson, the veterans brought in, the draft picks on the way, and the advancement of the young talent already on the roster should definitely boost the win tally for the team this season. jets. I imagine the Jets will win between six and eight games in 2022.
