Two face numerous charges after police seized drugs and firearms during a raid on Sault, Sault Ste. Marie OPP said in a press release issued today.

Items seized included:

  • more than 25 grams of suspected yellow fentanyl (estimated value over $9000),
  • more than 6 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine (estimated value over $1200),
  • over $3600 Canadian currency,
  • packing material,
  • digital scale,
  • Phones,
  • Glock 17 – 9mm pistol with a 17 rounds magazine fully loaded.

As a result, Jayden Aprile, 22, of Ajax, Ontario, and Patricia Vierimaa, 24, of Sault Ste Marie were arrested and are facing multiple charges.

As a result of a drug investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the help of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service’s Crime Suppression and Drug Enforcement Units arrested and seized two individuals on April 8, 2022. taken: over 25 grams of suspected yellow fentanyl (estimated value over $9000, over 6 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine 9 estimated value over $1200), over $3600 Canadian currency, packaging materials, digital scales, cell phones, Glock 17 – 9mm pistol with a 17 round magazine fully loaded. As a result of the investigation, Jayden Aprile, 22 years old from Ajax, Ont. was accused of:

  • Transporting a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner, in violation of Article 86(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Carrying a concealed weapon in violation of Article 90 of the CC
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, in violation of Article 91(1) of the CC
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon, in violation of Article 91(2) of the CC
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearms contrary to Article 92(1) of the CC
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in violation of Article 92(2) of the CC
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, in violation of section 95(a) of the CC
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained through crime under $5,000, in violation of Section 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, Violation of Section 4(1) of the CDSA
  • Trafficking in Schedule I Substances – Opioid (other than heroin), in violation of Section 5(1) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking in human beings – Opioids (other than heroin), in violation of Section 5(2) of the CDSA

Patricia Vierimaa, 24 years old from Sault Ste Marie, was accused of:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), in violation of Section 4(1) of the CDSA
  • Trafficking in Schedule I Substances – Opioid (other than heroin), in violation of Section 5(1) of the CDSA
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained through crime under $5,000, in violation of Section 354(1)(a) of the CC

Both accused appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on April 9, 2022.
