The ‘Life & Beth’ star is even trying to figure out a way to virtually get Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the ceremony during the Russian invasion of his country.
Schumer continued: “I think it’s a great opportunity to comment at least a few things. I have a few jokes that highlight the kind of current situation. I mean, so many terrible things are happening that it seems hard to focus in which.”
As usual, Schumer says she’s not afraid to tackle hard topics.
“I’m not afraid to go there, but it’s not me who produces the Oscars,” she said.
“I think in a way there’s definitely pressure to be like, ‘This is a holiday, let people forget, we just want to have this night,'” Schumer said. “But it’s, well, we have so many eyes and ears on this show.”
Schumer will host the ceremony along with Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes.
The Oscars will air on ABC on Sunday, March 27.
