Arsenal legend Paul Merson has made his predictions for another action packed weekend in the Premier League.

Liverpool take on Watford at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, with a chance to top the league table.

Jurgen Klopp’s squad is currently just one point away from leaders Manchester City, who will face Burnley later on Saturday at Turf Moor.

Merson expects a tougher game for Liverpool against relegated Watford than some might expect, but still supports the Reds to win.

“This is a huge game for both teams. If Liverpool win they will be at the top of the Premier League table and it’s unbelievable when you consider that Manchester City were 14 points ahead at one point,” Merson said. sportskeeda.

“There’s never a good time to play against a team like Liverpool, but Watford wouldn’t mind the timing of this game. The Reds had many players on international duty and with a huge UEFA Champions League game against Benfica coming up, will they try to equip a few players? Moreover, with Mohamed Salah coming after another devastating defeat for Egypt, will that be on his mind?

With Trent Alexander-Arnold out due to injury, Jurgen Klopp could turn to Joe Gomez or James Milner to replace the right-back. I think he will go for the latter because when Milner plays, he almost never disappoints.

“Liverpool should win this game, but it will be a lot harder than people think.”

Chelsea will look to tighten their grip on third place in the league table when they host Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Merson thinks Thomas Tuchel’s side will do just that by comfortably beating the Bees.

“Brentford must choose their games between now and the end of the season. They are already safe from the fall in my opinion, but they need a few more points to be absolutely sure that they don’t get dragged into a relegation scrap in the coming weeks,” Merson added.

‘Christian Eriksen played and scored in both games for Denmark during the international match, but will he play these? His future is an interesting topic of conversation as Brentford has only given him a short-term deal. If they stay up and offer him a contract I think he will look to take it because in many ways Eriksen will owe Brentford for taking a chance on him when there weren’t too many teams in line were standing to grab him when he left Inter Milan.

“I think Chelsea will win this game quite easily to cement third place in the Premier League.”

Merson’s Premier League Predictions

Liverpool 2-0 Watford

Brighton 2-1 Norwich City

Burnley 0-2 Manchester City

Chelsea 3-0 Brentford

Leeds United 2-2 Southampton

Wolves 1-2 Aston Villa

Manchester United 2-1 Leicester City

West Ham United 2-0 Everton

Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Newcastle United

Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal

Manchester United’s sole focus is on the Premier League after their Champions League departure by Atletico Madrid for the international break.

The Red Devils face Leicester in England’s top flight on Saturday, with Merson believes Ralf Rangnick’s side will take a narrow win to put pressure on fourth-placed Arsenal.

“As I’ve said hundreds of times before, you never really know what you’re going to get with Manchester United. Leicester have a big UEFA Europa League game on Thursday and to be fair that’s a bigger game for them at this stage of the season than a Premier League clash against the Red Devils, so a handful of players could be resting before this one, ‘ continued Merson.

“I keep predicting that Manchester United are going to win and I don’t know why, but I think they will win it 2-1 and put a lot of pressure on Arsenal.”

Speaking of Arsenal’s away game at Crystal Palace on Monday night, Merson said: “I’ve predicted wins for Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham, so Arsenal need to win this one to be on track for a top four finish in the Premier League.

Palace has a big game against Chelsea in the FA Cup to look forward to a little later in the month and players like Wilfried Zaha and Michael Olise have been injured so they probably won’t be at risk for this one.

Arsenal had a huge result against Aston Villa after losing to Liverpool and will do well with another win here. This is a big game with a lot of pressure, but I think Mikel Arteta and co will take all three points.”
