Queen was not bullied by Andrew, expert says as he condemns vitriol against monarch

Queen Elizabeth receives response from anti-monarchists after Prince Andrew accompanied her to Prince Philip’s memorial service.

Andrew fell out of favor with the royal family and the British press after he was accused by Virginia Giuffre of raping her when she was young.

The Duke of York, who has been stripped of his military titles and royal patronage over sexual assault charges, has reached an amicable settlement with his accuser.

Websites were flooded with comments on social media when the prince was seen in a car with his mother as they left for the memorial service.

Multiple reports said senior members of the royal family were unhappy with the Queen’s decision to take Andrew along.

Senior journalist Robert Jobson said: “The Queen made her decision for her own reasons.

He said: “She was not bullied by Andrew. She asked him to join her and if the Queen asks you to do something, it is not a request.”

Jobson added: “The vitriol against Her Majesty is terrible. I don’t support Andrew, but it was the Queen’s call.”
