RNC officer facing serious charges related to off-duty incidents

An RNC officer is charged with serious assault in connection with recent incidents on Newfoundland’s west coast.

33-year-old Cons. Noelle Laite is charged with assault, assault with a weapon, assault with bodily harm and suffocation.

The incidents, reported in late January, allegedly took place in Pasadena against another woman while Laite was off duty.

SIRT-NL, which investigates serious incidents involving police officers, says the charges were justified after an investigation by the civil service.

Laite has been released on parole to appear in court on April 5.

Her current status with the RNC is unclear.
