America has been in love with Halle Berry for thirty years. Since she had her breakthrough role with Eddie Murphy in the 1992 romantic comedy BoomerangBerry is one of our talented, ravishing, and drop-dead gorgeous stars. She was an X-Man, a swordfish, and a lot of different things in… cloud atlas, but one thing that has never changed is her sense of style and beauty. That said, we also just love it when Halle Berry posts on Instagram because we get photos like this:
In this photo, Halle Berry sits on an unidentified set of gray stone steps. While we don’t know exactly where she is, the cropped, Ororo Munroe-esque hairdo poking out from under her black velvet Greek sailor hat indicates that this was a recent photo, as she had the same look at the Critics Choice Awards. The star of gothic is dressed in a seductive, translucent gown that is practically outrageous in its translucency. One of her shoulders is bare and shining in the sun (appropriately, given a solar emoji caption and kissed), and her slender legs are subtly placed in front of her. As we would expect from Halle Berry, it is a simple and breathtaking look.
Halle Berry’s fame peaked in the early 2000s when she starred in Bryan Singer’s first film X-Men movie, monster ball, Die another day, and cat lady quickly after eachother. It’s quite a memorable run of films to star in the beginning of the longest-running comic book movie franchise, becoming the first African-American woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress, alongside Pierce Brosnan in his final turn as James Bond, and win the Golden Raspberry for what is widely regarded as one of the worst comic book adaptations of all time. But Berry has never stopped working, and has even given some of her best performances after that strange series of films, including the above-mentioned one Cloud Atlas. She reprized her iconic role of the mutant Storm in 2014 X-Men: Days of Future Past, and starred in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Halle Berry also joined Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, and there are rumors of a spin-off for her character Sofia.
While Halle Berry may or may not be getting that John Wick spin-off (after all, they said that about her 007 character Jinx too), she’s still at it. She recently starred in Roland Emmerich’s space disaster film moonfall starring Patrick Wilson (in which the moon turns out to be an evil robot, we think), and made her directorial debut for the Netflix movie bruised, in which she played a disgraced boxer trying to bond with her estranged son. Halle Berry is currently in production on the mothership, a science fiction film written and directed by Matt Charman (who also wrote the critically acclaimed Steven Spielberg film) Bridge of Spies† Until that is released in theaters, we hope Halle will continue to release these types of pictures.
