Shot found dead in car after tragic early morning accident when probe launched

A man has died in an early morning accident in Clackmannanshire.

Police attending a separate incident in Tillicoultry around 9am on Sunday saw a black Volkswagen Golf in the woods along an embankment on the A908 at the intersection with Lower Mill Street.

The driver, a 38-year-old man, was found dead.

He was the sole occupant of the motorcycle.

Officers investigating the death believe the car may have crashed while traveling east between Sauchie and Tillicoultry between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Police believe there were no witnesses and the accident has not been reported to emergency services.

The road was closed for four hours for investigation.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, but the cause of the crash is being investigated.

Police expressed their condolences and urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

Constable Fraser Easton said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who passed away.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the accident or who was out early Sunday morning to contact us.

“In the same way, I would like to call on anyone who has dashcam footage to contact officers as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information can contact the police at 101, citing incident number 0962 dated March 27, 2022.”
