International retail brand Masala Bazaar has opened its doors to the Small Heath community. The food outlet specializes in Asian and European dishes and opened its doors to customers this morning.
Masala Bazaar opened their store at St Andrews Shopping Park today, March 21. The store is the newest major retailer at the retail location, alongside stores such as B&M, Boots and Iceland.
The metro superstore saw shoppers queuing, carts at the ready, for their first look at the new store from 9am in time for the 10am opening. The supermarket has stores across the UK and has also opened a new branch at One Stop Shopping Center in Perry Barr.

The shops offer fresh halal meat and poultry, frozen fish, snacks, ready meals and daily groceries and spices. As Ramadan approaches, the store will also be offering special offers on their food.
One excited shopper told BirminghamLive: “It’s really good that this is in this retail park as there is nothing like this here in this retail park.
Store manager Jamal Syed, who is also a resident of Small Heath, said he was “excited” to see a large turnout for the opening day. He said: “With the coming of Ramadan and a large Muslim community here, we hope to see more people at the Masala Bazaar.”
Shahab Ali, the director of Masala Bazaar, who was at the grand opening, told BirminghamLive: “It’s been a challenge in recent weeks when we opened the Perry Barr store in February and then we managed to open it just before Ramadan. But we’ve had fantastic responses so far, so we’re looking forward to it.
“We are encouraging the local community to shop here during Ramadan and we have some great offers too.
“We chose this area for its convenience – a retail park offers the convenience of parking. On Coventry Road, parking is a matter whether it is day or night.”
The brand has already opened two West Midland locations: the Perry Barr store in the One Stop Shopping Center and the Darlaston branch.
