In Washington on Monday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz complained that Supreme Court hearings have become increasingly angry and confrontational.

However, in Bozeman, Montana, the Republican was filmed the previous day getting angry and confrontational with airport staff and an armed police officer.

A short video, which appeared to have been taken from behind a check-in counter, was posted to Reddit. It showed the masked senator protesting the two staffers, both women and the male officer. It was not possible to hear what was being said.

A caption said: “Ted Cruz attacks airline employees at BZN today after missing his flight. The police had to be called if he would not calm down.”

An airport official told the Daily Mail that the senator missed his check-in window for a flight and became “frustrated” as other options were limited due to spring break traffic.

“One of our public security officers was in the ticket lobby and was asked to assist a frustrated passenger at the United ticket counter (which is not uncommon),” said Scott Humphrey, deputy director of the Bozeman airport.

“Once the travel options were explained to the passenger, he was rebooked and departed Bozeman later that evening. U.S [officer] only realized afterwards that he was dealing with Senator Cruz.

Cruz reached Washington on Monday for the opening of the hearings for Ketanji Brown Jackson, Joe Biden’s first Supreme Court nominee.

the senator did not immediately comment on his experience at the Bozeman airport. Critics online did.

Rick Wilson, a former Republican agent and co-founder of the anti-Trump Lincoln Project, saidTed Cruz arguing with people at the airline counter is so curious. ‘Well sir, if you don’t like your flight options, we can take you to the train station.’”

Keith Olbermann, a writer and TV host, said“So apparently Ted Cruz had gotten so out of control, abusing the airline staff at the airport in Bozeman, Montana, that law enforcement had to get involved. It must have snowed.”

That was a reference to events in Texas and Mexico last year, when Cruz left his state during a deadly major frost to fly to Cancun for a family vacation.

Amid controversy, Cruz admitted his mistake and flew home. Online, some changed Donald Trump’s old nickname for his rival, Lyin’ Ted, to call the senator Flyin’ Ted instead.

Commenting on coverage of his Cancun escapade, Cruz said, “Here’s a suggestion. Just don’t be assholes. Just, you know, treat each other like people, have some respect to some degree.”
