World food prices hit a new record high in March, the United Nations said Friday, as the war in Ukraine threatens food shortages in some of the world’s poorest countries and greater inflation challenges for Western food producers.

The war has disrupted Ukraine’s massive exports of wheat, sunflower oil and other products and affected food exports from Russia, rocking a part of the world that has become increasingly important for feeding a growing global population.
