What Peter Gabriel said backstage after the last Genesis show

Bestinau got that-

Genesis drummer Nic Collins revealed what happened when Peter Gabriel went backstage after the band’s last show.

Gabriel, who left the pop-prog giants in 1975, was in the London crowd last month when the lineup featuring Nic’s father, Phil Collins, took its final bow.

“It was weird,” Nic Collins told rolling stone of the moments that followed. “I thought I was going to be a little more emotional and sad, but I was happy. It was a great show. It was a great way to end it. Then we changed clothes and had dinner and everyone was there. … It was just a great atmosphere.Everyone was hanging out.We were lucky it was the end of the tour so the COVID thing didn’t have to be such a precaution for us….We were finally able to get people backstage and to really hang out. The whole tour we couldn’t do anything like that. At the last show it was great to see everyone together and hear people share memories.”

He revealed that it was the first time he met Gabriel: “To finally be able to talk to someone I knew had such a big impact on my father’s life and of course on mine… ever since the set we played. were doing, there was so much of the Peter Gabriel era…to finally be able to talk to him was really amazing.”

Collins said Gabriel told him: “It was a great show. He said he was happy to be there because it was important to him too. He left in 1975 and never looked back. He never fell back on the Genesis material. He had a very, very successful solo career. But it was just amazing for him to be there. He said, “This is the end of something that I was part of. We spoke briefly. And then he spoke and my dad quite extensively and talked about all their good times. It was pretty awesome to watch.”

When asked about the suggestion of more Genesis shows with Gabriel instead of Phil Collins, Nic replied, “I don’t think so…I haven’t heard anything about it. I know it was mentioned by fans, especially in the early stages of the reunion. But I think eventually the band grew and people started doing their own stuff. I don’t think it’s a possibility at the moment.”
